My mom

I suppose it makes sense to tell you a bit about my mother, future grandma to the baby.
Whenever I have a question, need something, want advice or have news to share, my mom is my first call. She is never too busy to be a sounding board whether it was for junior high drama or even now if I have an issue. I can’t overstate the influence she’s had on my life. She’s been my mom, friend, teacher, physical therapist, and more and more. She is the person who has gotten me through any challenges and helped me be a strong and independent woman.
I got my love of volunteering from my mom. She has been using her organizational talents for helping others in some way or another for as long as I’ve known her. She taught my brother and I the importance of getting involved.
My mom is an excellent cook and she loves to be in the kitchen. I was the spoiled child who got homemade jam and nothing from a mix. I was helping her out as soon as I could stand on a chair next to her. She is waiting for the day when my child can join her at the counter.
The most important thing my mother did for me as a child was to listen. She let me have my own opinions and didn’t mind me sharing them. I talked and talked and she didn’t judge me but instead, took an interest. I plan on showing my child that same respect. Making sure they know that their thoughts are important.
